Our Recreational classes are suitable for boys and girls, beginners and those wanting to commit to one session per week. Classes are open to all as long as we have space. The programme provides a good introduction to gymnastics, children learn basic gymnastics and generic skills which are used in all sports, such as agility, balance and co-ordination.
Term Focus
January – April Gymnasts have the opportunity to enter our Easter themed Club Championships in March, ‘Easter Eggstravaganza’. However, this year the date will be Sunday 7th May 2023, the ‘Edinburgh Extravaganza’.
April – June & August – October Gymnasts work towards the City of Edinburgh Gymnastics Club 10 Step Award Scheme. They are presented with a certificate and wrist band when they have complete their level.
October – December Gymnasts works on new skills and take part in our Christmas Cracker games and challenges!
Intermediate Level
Our coaches continuously assess the children and nominate those who are ready to move up. Gymnasts who are keen and show good progress with their skills will be invited to our Intermediate classes. Intermediate gymnasts train for 2-4 hours per week.
Our Recreational Class Schedule and bookings
We hold beginner classes at 2 venues: Broughton High School and James Gillespie’s High School. We do not offer trial sessions – each session can vary greatly depending on the session focus, a full term really gives the feel for our sport/club.

Recreational Fees
CLUB MEMBERSHIP FEE
All participants are required to pay an Annual Club Membership fee of £6 covering the period August 22 to August 23.
BRITISH GYMNASTICS MEMBERSHIP FEE
All participants must register annually with British Gymnastics for insurance purposes – this is paid directly to British Gymnastics and costs £21. The membership year runs from August 22 to August 23.
TERM FEES
Termly coaching fees are payable for the whole term at the start of each term. The termly fee is calculated by the number of weeks in the term multiplied by the per session rate.
Holiday Camps
We run holiday courses for recreational gymnasts during the school holidays. These are open to existing members and non-members.
Come and join in the fun at our Recreational Gymnastics Holiday Camp. The holiday courses are for boys and girls aged 5 and up, and run for 3 hours per day for 3 days. Individual days can be booked, but priority is given to those booking for the whole week. As well as training skills on vault, bars, beam & floor, lots of fun is had playing games.

Recreational Kit
Legging or shorts and a t-shirt are perfectly fine to wear in our classes.
